Lone Worker Policy

The safety of all members is of the utmost importance. Realizing the duties may occasionally require a member to work in the building alone, this policy is formulated to minimize the effects of injury or illness under these circumstances.

Inasmuch as possible, members having work to do in the building will not do so without a second person being present to call for help in the event of illness or injury.

If it is not possible for a second person to be present, it will be the responsibility of the individual doing the work in the building to

1. Postpone the work until a second person may accompany them.
  Or at the very least
2. Ensure that an external second person is aware of
     a. The date and time the worker will arrive at the building.
     b. The amount of time the worker expects to be in the building.
     c. The nature of the work to be performed.

The individual doing the work will notify the second person when their task is completed but only after they have exited the building.

The external second party should not hesitate to call for appropriate help in the event the lone worker fails to check in with them.

This policy will be posted where all members may read it and may be reviewed from time to time.
