Complementary Ticket Policy
Principle: Winding River Players believes in promoting live theater by rewarding participants in and/or contributors to their productions with the means to view or share the fruit of their labor with others.
Intent: This policy will provide definitions, criteria and guidelines around complementary tickets, their administration, regulation and accountability.
Definitions:
WRP -- Winding River Players, Inc
Board -- WRP Board of Directors
Company Member -- People working in any capacity on the production.
Cast -- Company members cast in a role in the Production, e.g. Actors.
Technical Crew -- Company members working directly on the show in a technical capacity, e.g. backstage hands, lights, audio, stage manager.
Production Staff-- Company members working in a non-technical capacity on the production, e.g. Artistic Director, Director, Stage Manager, Publicity, Production Coordinator
(It is recognized that an individual may be involved in several aspects of the production that cross boundaries between technical and non-technical.)
Comp Ticket -- A complementary ticket equivalent to a full-priced ticket, admitting one individual to a performance.
Policy:
Comp Tickets are a specific production expense and must be budgeted and accounted and used for that specific production. The Director will automatically be eligible for two Comp Tickets. All other Comp Tickets are awarded at the discretion of the Director, who shall award no less than:
2 -- Stage Manager
2 -- Each Actor
1 -- Each to individuals who helped in other capacities.
up to 4 to non-Company members who have contributed substantially to the production
Comp Tickets are not additive and will default to the highest single category for the individual's function within the production.
Examples:
If you are cast in a role, help with the publicity and help with the set, you are eligible for 2, not 4.
If you are helping with props and also moving the set, you are eligible for 1, not 2.
If you are Directing, being your own Stage Manager, acting in a role, designing the set and writing publicity, you get 2 plus our enduring gratitude.
In the case of dinner theatre, each Comp Ticket shall be no more than $10.00 towards the price of a full ticket.
In all cases the total amount of the comp tickets shall be accounted for as a production expense against the specific production. Comp tickets should be included in the preliminary budget estimate for each production.
