Pat Parson's Memorial Award
Principle: Winding River Players believes in promoting the love of live theater by rewarding the cumulative theatre arts efforts of talented young people of Bradford County during their High School years.
Intent: This policy will provide definitions, criteria and guidelines around the Award, its administration and the Award process
Definitions:
WRP -- Winding River Players, Inc
Board -- WRP Board of Directors
Award Committee -- a Board-appointed group of one or more Board or Company members appointed on a yearly basis whose purpose is to manage the award process.
Award Subcommittee -- [optional] one or more theatrically qualified individuals appointed by the Award Committee to evaluate portfolios and/or hold auditions.
Award -- A one-time grant of money.
Applicant -- A graduating senior of a Bradford County High.School:
The Board will appoint an Award Committee on a yearly basis, to oversee the Award Process.
The Award Committee
- Shall consist of one or more Board or Company Members.
- Will follow the Guidelines of the Award Process[See Appendix A].
- Will notify the Board of their selection and provide the Board with the requisite information for the Treasurer to manage the disbursement of funds.
- May delegate the audition and/or portfolio review to one of more qualified judges consisting of Board and/or Company members and base the winner of the Award on the recommendation of the Award Subcommittee.
Disbursement of the Award funds will be made directly to the recipient at an Awards Ceremony to be scheduled by WRP. The presentation will be done in such a way as to maximize the publicity value of the event for WRP.
Eligibility Criteria: Applicant must
- Be a graduating Senior of Bradford County
- Demonstrate their acting/technical proficiency through an audition and/or provide a portfolio documenting their continued and ongoing theatrical participation during their high school career.
APPENDIX A -- Guidelines: WRP Award Process
Amount of Award and Frequency
Each Award shall be up to $500.00. This sum will be paid directly to the to the recipient unless other arrangements are requested in writing.
Special Circumstances:
In the event no Award is awarded during a particular year, for any reason, the money set aside for that Award may (at the Board's discretion) be carried over to the next year and dispersed as an additional Award by the Award Committee. The second Award may be given to an additional individual or disbursed in the form of a Dual Award to a single individual. In no event shall the award be greater than $1000.00 total for any year unless specifically authorized by the Board.Special Consideration will be given to applicants who:
- Have consistently participated in WRP Productions
- Will be enrolled in a Theatre Arts program
- Demonstrates financial need if enrolled in a Theatre Arts programTime Line
An Award application package shall be mailed directly to the Guidance Office and Drama Coaches of Bradford County High Schools as soon after the New Year as possible.
The Complete Award Package shall be made available in PDF format for download from the Winding River Player's website.Completed applications shall be postmarked no later that April 15th of each calendar year. Applications postmarked after April 15th will be disqualified unless special exception is made by the Board.A copy of the above policy will be included in the Application package.
